Knowledge, resources and insight to empower you in lifestyle, nutrition, mindset and personal care
Have you ever experienced anxiety, fear, worry, overwhelm, guilt...
unworthiness, judgment, comparison, anger, hatred, defeat or victimized Ummm... who hasn't right?! What if I told you these are actually shaping your personality and the way you experience life and your personal reality?
These are just a few examples of what I refer to as the chemicals of stress and they play a HUGE role in our ability to overcome or create lasting change in any arena of our life.
We as human beings, at a very fundamental level, are innately wired for 2 things: survival and the continuation of our species. Survival is an interesting topic that plays a larger role in our experience than one might think. Being wired for survival means we have an incredible system in place which originates in our Limbic System, part of our brain. We are constantly receiving input from our environment - people, places, things and circumstances - to determine whether or not the stimuli is a threat and how to react accordingly. This is where the term and definition of "fight or flight" comes into play. When a threat is perceived, we release cortisol (adrenaline) and get our bodies ready to either stand our ground and fight or run like hell to safety.
Why is any of this important?
Because back in the day, our perceived threats were the sabertooth tiger and fire. Fast forward to today's modern society and yes, while our brains have evolved and expanded in ways, our Limbic System remains intact and in charge of the same operations. However, instead of fire and the tiger, our perceived threats have become our boss, Facebook, the news, neighbors and maybe even your mother-in-law.
We are constantly experiencing external stressors and as a result we are constantly releasing cortisol, often at a faster rate than our body can remain in command of and as a result we become conditioned to identify ourselves with the chemicals of stress. Worry, anxiety and fear become a way of being - anger, judgement and comparison become our goto - guilt, defeat and the victim become our naturally occurring state. We then adopt behaviors and actions that perpetuate and re-iterate this chemical continuity such as road rage, over-eating, under-eating, emotional eating, sarcasm, passive aggressiveness, addiction, panic attacks, compulsive behaviors, co-dependency, avoidance, self-sabotage, and the list goes on...
These are not done intentionally nor do we have awareness of them occurring because they have become unconscious habits. We often don't realize or see until we feel like we've hit "rock bottom", can no longer stand ourselves or refuse to go on living this way. Only in those moments of desperation do we allow ourselves to see what we've been doing - meaning we are too busy BEing the chemicals of stress to SEE we are being them.
This is what we call conditional living. Conditional living is equated with surviving, not thriving and certainly not creation. So, in order to BECOME anything (thinner, wealthier, happier, etc) we must first OVERCOME our conditioned way of BEing.
What does liberating ourselves allow us to do?
We are meant for so much more than merely surviving this lifetime. Too many of us wake up and experience life as a repeat of yesterday, living as a result of something that is happening TO you and arrive at our grave secretly unfulfilled and silently suffering. YOU ARE THE MIRACLE. You are meant to thrive and create. We are innately wired for love and joy and we have allowed the stress of life to temporarily blur that intrinsic truth. So while we are overcoming TO become, we are ultimately reminding ourselves of who we really are - we are getting reacquainted with the TRUE SELF. When we decondition ourselves from the chemicals of stress we broaden our focus, see possibility and experience what we all are looking for - freedom, ease and joy!
In a world that is so divided and perpetuating the vibrational signature of fear and judgment, it is our responsibility to raise our coherency, to be vigilantly aware and to consciously choose to contribute to a movement of ownership and love.
